Classroom in Condadillo, La Union, El Salvador, C.A.

The purpose of this project was to provide more space and a more conducive learning environment for the primary school students in Condadillo. The 4 room school in Condadillo was not big enough for all the children who wanted to attend. Some had to sit outside the classroom, in a narrow corridor, with very little protection from the blazing sun, rain, or winds. But the school was blessed with a visionary principal and a group of parents who had some basic construction skills and who wanted something better for their children. Again with guidance from a local engineer, they worked with CliniCASA to construct a classroom for the children.
Multiservice room Condadillo The year after the classroom was constructed, it was realized that the children had to eat lunch in the playground in the sun, sometimes spilling food because others were running around. And also, there was no place for parents and teachers to have meetings except in the open field. For this reason CliniCASA partnered with the community to build a multiservice room.  This consists of a large open area with a roof but no walls, open to the air.  It is used as a lunch room, for parent-teacher meetings and for ceremonies. It can also used for an extra classroom when needed.
Latrines Condadillo Currently the community and CliniCASA are in the process of building new latrines for the students.  The old latrines are in disrepair and the cistern is full.  The new latrines will be recyclable which means that the cistern can be cleaned every 10 years as needed.
